BRIDGEPORT

FUEL FOR A CURE – The Bridgeport Women’s Club put together Fuel for a Cure, a gift card program that helps current cancer patients in Wise County. Drop off gift cards for gas at The Cancer Center at Wise Health System. Call Laura Tanner, 940-626-2300, option 6.

CALENDARS AVAILABLE – The Bridgeport Historical Society is selling calendars featuring photos of sunsets over Lake Bridgeport taken by four local residents. “Sunsets Over Lake Bridgeport” is available for purchase for $8. Call Don Majka, 940-389-3821.

EGGS NEEDED – Bridgeport Medical Lodge is needing wrapped candy and plastic eggs for its March 30 hunt for residents. Donations are needed by March 29 at 2108 15th Street in Bridgeport.

DECATUR

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

TAX PREPARATION – Area residents with low incomes can get free help preparing and filing their taxes. Volunteers will be at the Decatur Public Library 3 to 6:30 p.m. every Monday afternoon now through April 16. Bring the following information: W-2, 1099 forms (1099-INT, DIV, A, B, MISC, R, SSA), unemployment, pensions, etc.; any forms indicating federal income tax that is already paid; and receipts or canceled checks if you itemize deductions. Bring a picture ID for yourself (and your spouse) and Social Security cards or other official documentation for you and your dependents. Also bring a copy of last year’s income tax return. FOOD TRUCK CHALLENGE – The second Eighter from Decatur Food Truck Challenge is May 5. Applications for retail vendors for the Eighter Food Truck Challenge are available and due back by April 20. Forms can be found at eighterfoodtruckchallenge.com.

DAZZLE ME PINK – The Dazzle Me Pink fashion show and luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. April 18 at the Decatur Conference Center. All the proceeds benefit the Women’s Services and the Mary’s Gift program. Reservations for a table of eight is $350 and individual seats are $45. 3-ON-3 HOOPS – Registration is underway for the 16th annual Wise Hoops 3-on-3 basketball tournament sponsored by the Decatur Junior Woman’s Club. The tournament is April 13 at the McCarroll Middle School Multipurpose Building. Check-in is at 5 p.m. and games start at 5:30. Teams registered by Mach 31 receive a t-shirt. JACKIE’S RUN 5K – The Jackie’s Run 5K will highlight the Fit-N-Wise Run Fest at McCarroll Middle School April 14. The Fit Youth 1-mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. The event benefits the Jackie Murphree Scholarship Fund and local schools who have partnered with the Fit-N-Wise’s Fit Youth program. The entry fee for the fun run is $15 through March 31 and $20 April 1-14. The entry fee for Jackie’s Run 5k is $25 through March 31 or $30 April 1-14th. RHOME

LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

VETERANS EVENTS – The Rhome Veterans will hold a bake sale at the Rhome Public Library from 1 to 5 p.m. March 23 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24. The Easter bunny will be at the library March 24.

WISE COUNTY

GOLF SIGN-UPS – The Oil Belt Men’s Golf Association has opened its 2018 season. Men age 50 and older are invited to join the association, which is beginning its 27th year. Enrollment fee is $20, and play is handicapped. Members play three to four times per month in the area. There is a nominal fee each time you play. Call Tom Ferguson, 940-389-9879; or A.Z. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS – Weatherford College has opened its online scholarship application system for 2018-19 academic year scholarships provided by the WC Foundation. To start the application process, students should visit wc.edu/scholarships and use their existing “MyWC” login credentials to enter the system. Students must have completed the overall WC application to apply for scholarships. Deadline is Friday. The scholarships will begin in the fall 2018 semester and many awards will renew for spring 2019, pending fall grade point averages.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. BASEBALL SIGNUPS – Registration for the Made 2 Thrive spring season is underway. The $20 fee is due by April 1. The price increases to $50 after April 1. Forms are available at made2thrive.org.

DINNER WITH MAYORS – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce will host Dinner with the Mayors 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Women’s Building, 3101 S. FM 51. Wise County mayors will be giving the latest information on their city and plans for the next year. Prepay is $25 and tickets are $30 at the door.

COFFEE NETWORK – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce monthly coffee network will be 8 to 9 a.m. March 28 at the Rhome Community Center.
