BRIDGEPORT

FUEL FOR A CURE – The Bridgeport Women’s Club put together Fuel for a Cure, a gift card program that helps current cancer patients in Wise County. Drop off gift cards for gas at The Cancer Center at Wise Health System. Call Laura Tanner, 940-626-2300, option 6.

CALENDARS AVAILABLE – The Bridgeport Historical Society is selling calendars featuring photos of sunsets over Lake Bridgeport taken by four local residents. “Sunsets Over Lake Bridgeport” is available for purchase for $8. Call Don Majka, 940-389-3821.

DECATUR

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – The Decatur Junior Woman’s Club will hold the 12th annual Daddy Daughter Dance Feb. 3 at the Decatur Conference Center. This year’s theme is the Mad Hatter’s Ball. BOOK SALE – The Decatur Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Saturday. A friends of the library preview is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale for the public is from 10 a.m. to close Friday and Saturday. Items include fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, DVDs and books on CD.

CITIZENS ACADEMY – The Decatur Police Department will hold a citizens police academy beginning Feb. 6. The class is free, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 13 weeks. Applications are available at the DPD and at decaturtx.org and the department’s Facebook page. Call Sgt. Royce Gastineau, 940-393-0300.

STOCK SHOW TICKETS – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce is selling Fort Worth Stock Show tickets for the 7:30 p.m. Saturday performance. The tickets are $30 each, cash or check only. The office, 308 W. Main St., is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

TAX PREPARATION – Area residents with low incomes can get free help preparing and filing their taxes. Volunteers will be at the Decatur Public Library 3 to 6:30 p.m. every Monday afternoon from Feb. 5 through April 16. Bring the following information: W-2, 1099 forms (1099-INT, DIV, A, B, MISC, R, SSA), unemployment, pensions, etc.; any forms indicating federal income tax that is already paid; and receipts or canceled checks if you itemize deductions. Please bring a picture ID for yourself (and your spouse) and Social Security cards or other official documentation for you and your dependents. PARADISE

RHOME

LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

TECH TRUCK – The Perot Tech Truck, from the Perot Museum in Dallas, will be at the Rhome Public Library 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 6. The Tech Truck has walk-up, hands-on experiences ranging 10-20 minutes. Activities include a 3-D printing demonstration, 3-D pen activity and building a Vibrobot.

WISE COUNTY

CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce’s next luncheon is 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave. The program will be “Tools to Build and Protect Your Business” by Chip Hakanson of Edward Jones. Lunch is $15 at the door. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.

FAITH BRIEF

VALENTINE DANCE – The Wise County Cowboy Church will hold a Valentine Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 10 at the church, 2070 Old Denton Road in Decatur.
