BRIDGEPORT

FUEL FOR A CURE – The Bridgeport Women’s Club put together Fuel for a Cure, a gift card program that helps current cancer patients in Wise County. Drop off gift cards for gas at The Cancer Center at Wise Health System. Call Laura Tanner, 940-626-2300, option 6.

BINGO NIGHT – The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish will hold Bingo Night at the Bridgeport Lions Club Hall, 1107 8th Street, at 6:30 p.m. April 21.

DECATUR

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

TAX PREPARATION – Area residents with low incomes can get free help preparing and filing their taxes. Volunteers will be at the Decatur Public Library 3 to 6:30 p.m. every Monday afternoon now through April 16. Bring the following information: W-2, 1099 forms (1099-INT, DIV, A, B, MISC, R, SSA), unemployment, pensions, etc.; any forms indicating federal income tax that is already paid; and receipts or canceled checks if you itemize deductions. Bring a picture ID for yourself (and your spouse) and Social Security cards or other official documentation for you and your dependents. Also bring a copy of last year’s income tax return. GLITZY GIRLS TRAILER PARK – The annual Glitzy Girls Trailer Park is currently taking applications for vendors and sponsors. The event is Saturday on the Decatur Square. Proceeds benefit local charities. Call Carol, 940-206-4611 or Jana, 817-357-7205, or follow on Facebook.

FOOD TRUCK CHALLENGE – The second Eighter from Decatur Food Truck Challenge is May 5. Applications for retail vendors for the Eighter Food Truck Challenge are available and due back by April 20. Forms can be found at eighterfoodtruckchallenge.com.

DAZZLE ME PINK – The Dazzle Me Pink fashion show and luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. April 18 at the Decatur Conference Center. All the proceeds benefit Women’s Services and the Mary’s Gift program. 3-ON-3 HOOPS – Registration is underway for the 16th annual Wise Hoops 3-on-3 basketball tournament sponsored by the Decatur Junior Woman’s Club. The tournament is Friday at the McCarroll Middle School Multipurpose Building. Check-in is at 5 p.m. and games start at 5:30. The deadline to register is 6 p.m. Thursday. Register at eventsdjwc.com. JACKIE’S RUN 5K – The Jackie’s Run 5K will highlight the Fit-N-Wise Run Fest at McCarroll Middle School Saturday. The Fit Youth 1-mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. The event benefits the Jackie Murphree Scholarship Fund and local schools who have partnered with the Fit-N-Wise’s Fit Youth program. The entry fee for Jackie’s Run 5K is $30. Register online at decatur5K.com.

GLOW BALL TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce glow ball tournament and mixer will be April 20 at the Decatur Golf Club. The mixer starts at 5:30 p.m. and the glow ball tournament begins at dusk. The price is $50 per player on a four-man team. Register at 940-627-3107 or lisab@decaturtx.com.

MARKET DAYS – Wise County Market Days will be opening Decatur’s Community Market Third Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 on the Wise County Fair Grounds South Field. The event will include Farmers Market, local honey, artisans, crafts, fresh baked goods, food trucks and activities for kids and adults. The Decatur High School FFA will be selling plants grown by students.

GREENWOOD/SLIDELL

BUYERS ASSOCIATION BARBECUE – The Greenwood/Slidell Buyers Association is having a barbecue fundraiser in Greenwood at the Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. April 21. Donations will be taken. Raffle tickets will be sold for a 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol and a Ruger American 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle.

RHOME

LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

VETERAN EVENTS – The Rhome Veterans will hold several events in April. The movie “Coco” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Rhome Public Library. At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rhome Veterans will hold their monthly meeting. On April 28, the group will have an archaeological tour, leaving at 9 a.m. from the Wise County Historical Museum in Decatur. WISE COUNTY

GOLF SIGN-UPS – The Oil Belt Men’s Golf Association has opened its 2018 season. Men age 50 and older are invited to join the association, which is beginning its 27th year. Enrollment fee is $20, and play is handicapped. Members play three to four times per month in the area. There is a nominal fee each time you play. Call Tom Ferguson, 940-389-9879; or A.Z. RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS – The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to serve on the Local Disaster Action Team to respond to local disasters such as house fires and tornadoes. Call Melvin Castleberry, 940-210-4908.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.

NETWORKING EVENT – The Area Business Women’s Network is having their regular monthly lunch at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Decatur Conference Center. Cost is $11 for members and first time guests. The speakers are The Snow Sisters. Bring business cards to network and a door prize for the scholarship raffle.

ABWN SCHOLARSHIP – The ABWN Scholarship is open to all Wise County graduating female seniors and any college student who graduated from a Wise County high school. Download the application at www.abwn.org. Deadline is Friday.

RELAY FOR LIFE – The Wise County Relay for Life is 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. April 27 at the Decatur Middle School track. Raffle tickets for a large fire pit, donated by TLR Welding, and a Kula Cooler, donated by Outdoor Paradise, are being sold for $5 each or six for $25. Luminaria bags are $5 each. FAITH BRIEFS

COMMUNITY CHORUS – Paradise United Methodist Church is holding a community chorus at 2 p.m. May 6 at 108 Oak Street in Paradise. The chorus is directed by Steve Horner.
