REMIND ACCOUNTS UPDATED – Alvord ISD has updated several Remind accounts for the 2018-19 school year. Find an updated list of numbers at alvordisd.net.

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT – Alvord High School will hold an information session on financial aid for seniors at 6 p.m. Thursday in the high school cafeteria.

RISE AND SHINE – Alvord Elementary School’s fifth graders will be presenting at Rise and Shine at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 12 in the Alvord Elementary gym.

EARLY RELEASE – Alvord schools will dismiss early Friday. The elementary releases at 2 p.m., middle school 2:10 p.m. and high school 2:15 p.m.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Alvord schools. It is a staff development day.


BEF BUNCO – Boyd Education Foundation’s fundraiser, Bunco Gone Wine, is 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave. Tickets are $25. BISD staff pays $15. There will be a taco bar, wine, silent auction and raffles, in addition to bunco games. Guests must be at least 21 years old.

PSAT – Boyd High School sophomore and juniors will take the PSAT Oct. 10.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Boyd schools.


BMS YEARBOOKS – Bridgeport Middle School yearbooks are for sale now on the Jostens website. Go to the middle school’s home page for the link.

OPEN HOUSE – Bridgeport Middle School will have an open house at 6 p.m. Thursday.

JUNIOR/SENIOR PARENT NIGHT – Bridgeport High School Counselors will be having a Junior/Senior parent night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school library. They will be discussing college applications, scholarships, testing, financial aid and all other post secondary questions. There will also be a financial aid representative from Weatherford College present to answer questions. Please enter through the doors by the front office.

FITNESS WALK – Bridgeport Elementary will hold a family fun fitness walk at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

GRANDPARENTS LUNCHEON – Bridgeport Elementary will hold a grandparents luncheon Oct. 5.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Bridgeport schools.

PEP RALLY – Bridgeport ISD will hold a distrcit wide pep rally at 9 a.m. Oct. 12.


SPIRIT TABLES – Young Elementary PTO has a spirit table every Friday 7:20 a.m. until the bell rings. Items are priced from 50 cents to $15 and include things like foam fingers, bracelets, T-shirts, megaphones and more. Carson Elementary PTO has a spirit table every Friday 7:30 to 8 a.m.

DANCE CLINIC – The Decatur High School Eagle Dolls will hold a dance mini camp Oct. 10-12. Cost is $40 for children from 4 years to eighth grade. Forms may be found at all of the campuses, on the Eagle Dolls’ webpage, and linked on their Instagram.

FUN RUN – The Rann Elementary Fun Run is Nov. 2.

FIRE PREVENTION – A fire prevention assembly will be held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at Rann Elementary.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Decatur schools. It is a staff development day.


DRILL TEAM CLINICS – The Eaton Sapphires will host their clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13, for girls in kindergarten to eighth grade. Each clinic registration comes with a T-shirt (while supplies last) and opportunity to perform at a high school football game or pep rally. Registration is $35 per participant at each clinic.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Northwest schools. It is staff flex day.

BAND SHOWCASE – Northwest ISD bands will host a special performance at Northwest ISD Stadium Oct. 15, with all proceeds benefitting the band programs. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIR – Northwest ISD will host its annual College and Career Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at Northwest High School. and feature several breakout sessions with vital information and training on a variety of college- and career-focused topics.


HOMEWORK HELPERS – Paradise Elementary School has a room set aside to assist students with homework. Students will also be able to take AR tests during this time. Due to space, it’s limited to the first 30 students who ask for a pass.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS – Paradise Intermediate School needs parent volunteers. Pick up an application in the front office. For information, email jdowler@pisd.net.

STUDENT HOLIDAY – No classes will be held Monday at Paradise schools. It is a staff development day.

FALL FESTIVAL – The Paradise Elementary Fall Festival is Oct. 13.

PEP RALLY – The Battle of 114 pep rally will be Oct. 12 before the Panthers take on rival Boyd.

PSAT – Paradise juniors will take the PSAT Oct. 10.


FALL FESTIVAL – The Slidell Fall Festival is Friday at the school. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $1 and proceeds go to the student council scholarship fund.

EARLY DISMISSAL – Slidell schools will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

WATER/SNACK DRIVE – Slidell Elementary is accepting donations of water and snacks for the Greenwood/Slidell Volunteer Fire Department.

FFA FUNDRAISER – Slidell FFA students are selling meat and desserts through Oct. 18. Orders will be delivered by Thanksgiving. Contact any FFA student or Ethan Fortenberry at efortenberry@slidellisd.net.
