EARLY VOTING – Voting begins in the Alvord ISD bond election April 23 and will run through May 1. The election on the $5.11 million bond package to build a new gym at Alvord Elementary and a pair of classrooms is May 5.

TRANSFER APPLICATIONS – Alvord ISD is accepting new transfer applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Applications can be printed at alvordisd.net or picked up atn at the Alvord ISD Administration Office located at 100 Mosley Lane. All applications and supporting documentation must be returned by June 18, 2018. Transfer student applications will be considered at the regular school board meeting in July.

GRADUATION – The Alvord ISD School Board recently approved a policy change that will allow all current or former board members to present a diploma to a graduate who is a family member. Any former board members who want to present a diploma to a family member at graduation will need to contact Julie Dickerson at the high school as soon as possible.


BIG EVENT – Boyd ISD’s first Big Event, a one-day service project, is May 5. To show their appreciation to the community, Boyd students will complete service projects such as yard work, fence repairs, window washing and painting for citizens. To request a job, fill out a form at Boyd High School. Deadline to apply is April 6. Call Robin Nobles, 940-433-9580.

PUBLIC ACCESS TO LIBRARY – The Boyd Intermediate/Middle School library is open to the public between 5 and 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday now through May 25 to trade books, access the internet and email, and for students to receive help with homework.

COLOR RUN – The Boyd 5K Color Run is 8 a.m. April 28 at Boyd High School. The fun run benefits the Boyd Education Foundation. Early registration is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Registration forms are available at boydisd.net or at any Boyd ISD campus.

KINDERGARTEN/PRE-K ROUNDUP – Boyd Elementary will hold a kindergarten/pre-K roundup from 4 to 6 p.m. April 30. Parents will need to bring the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and shot record, their driver’s license and proof of residency.

PRE-K REGISTRATION – Bridgeport Elementary School will be holding pre-kindergarten registration on Thursday and Monday in the BES cafeteria from 3:45 to 5 p.m. To register, bring your child’s birth certificate, shot record, Social Security card, proof of residence (utility bill, etc.), and a picture I.D. of the adult enrolling the child.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY – Monday will be a holiday for Boyd ISD students.


SUBSTITUTE ORIENTATION – Bridgeport ISD will be hosting a Substitute Teacher Orientation for new Substitute Teachers at 9 a.m., April 18 at the Bridgeport ISD Administration Office, 2107 15th Street. Anyone interested in substituting must attend the orientation and training.

PTO MEETING – Bridgeport Elementary PTO will hold a meeting at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY – Monday will be a holiday for Bridgeport ISD students.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY – April 20 will be a holiday for Decatur ISD students.

FAMILY PICNIC – Parents are invited to picnic with their students April 27 and May 4 during lunch periods between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Rann Elementary.

SCIENCE DAY – All three Decatur ISD elementary schools will participate in the Science Day event May 4 at Young Elementary School.

PLANT A SEED OF KINDNESS – Rann Elementary students will participate in the “Plant a Seed of Kindness” event throughout the day May 7. Students will go throughout town during their rotations performing a variety of community service projects.


PLANT SALES – Northwest ISD’s Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools will host their annual plant sales from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, each school will sell plants from 8 a.m. to noon. Sales will be conducted in each school’s greenhouse. Byron Nelson is located at 2775 Bobcat Blvd. in Trophy Club, Eaton is located at 1350 Eagle Blvd. in Haslet and Northwest is located at 2301 Texan Drive in Justin.

ONLINE ENROLLMENT – Online enrollment for all students – both returning and new to Northwest ISD – for the 2018-19 school year will opened Monday at nisdtx.org/enrollment.

FOOD SHOW – Northwest ISD and Aramark, the district’s food service provider, will host a food show April 19, to learn about school menus and sample items. The event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Byron Nelson High School cafeteria.

KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP – Northwest ISD elementary schools will each host a kindergarten round-up event from April 30 to May 4, allowing incoming kindergartners and their families to learn about their new schools. Kindergarten classes are offered at every Northwest ISD elementary school. The Texas Education Agency allows children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year to attend kindergarten.


KINDER REGISTRATION – Paradise Elementary kindergarten registration is April 25 by appointment only. Call 940-969-5046.

HOMEWORK HELP – Paradise Intermediate is offering tutoring for all grade levels 7:30 to 8 a.m. every morning.

DUAL CREDIT NIGHT – Paradise High School will hold a mandatory parent/student meeting for students on Weatherford College Dual Credit Night April 19.

PROM – The Paradise High School prom is April 21.


KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP – Slidell Elementary will hold registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2018-19 school year from noon to 3 p.m. April 17 and 19. Parents can also register their child from 8 a.m. to noon April 18.
