Krystle Duncan

EDUCATOR SPOTLIGHT

Krystle Duncan

Position: High school special education teacher, district coordinator of special education

Family: My husband Cody and I have been married for three years, and we have a beautiful baby girl named Lakelyn who will be 2 in December! I have also been blessed with two amazing bonus children, Brenley and Hollyn, who are 9 and 11.

Experience: This is my ninth year in education, with all nine years being at Boyd ISD. I taught at the elementary level for eight years. This will be my first year at the high school level.

Hobbies: I enjoy doing Crossfit, going to the lake on the weekends and spending as much time as possible with our almost 2-year-old baby girl.

Why did you choose education as a profession? What do you like about it?

I initially started college with a dental hygiene focus. While teaching Vacation Bible School during the summers, I quickly realized I had a passion for teaching. I love making connections with children and helping them learn. That’s when I knew teaching was my passion, so I changed my major and headed in the direction of education. As challenging as it can be, there are also so many rewards. One of the best parts of teaching is when you see the ‘light bulb’ come on and everything clicks. It makes all the hard work totally worth it.”
