Ruby Partin

Ruby (Abernathy) Partin, 103, of Chico, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, in Decatur.

Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico with the Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.

Pallbearers are grandsons Tim Partin, Kelly Gilbert, Kevin Partin, Justin Partin, Will Partin and great-grandson Tyler Wier.

Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

Ruby was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Quinlan to John Anthony and Fannie Adelia (Stockton) Abernathy. She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth in January 1934, where she played basketball and volleyball. She married Fred Partin in February 1934. They lived in Fort Worth and Keller.

All her children graduated from Keller High School.

The couple moved to Chico in 1970 where they co-owned Chico Dry Goods Store.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings Vernon Abernathy, Clyde Abernathy, Ruth Butler and Mary Vance; and son-in-law Richard Gilbert.

Ruby is survived by sons Fred L. Partin Jr. and wife, June, of Euless, Walt Partin and wife, Brenda, of Chico and John Partin and wife, Nelda, of Van Alstyne; daughter Gerry Gilbert of Llano; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
