Johnnie Charlene Mitchum

Johnnie Charlene Mitchum, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, in Decatur.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 2, at the First Baptist Church of Alvord with Pastor Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial followed at Post Oak Cemetery.

White Family Funeral Home of Bowie handled arrangements.

Johnnie was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Jacksboro to John Henry and Lora Irene (Bell) Poe. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1961. Johnnie married Ray Mitchum Jan. 5, 1962, in Sunset.

Johnnie worked as a school bus driver, an LVN at Bellmire Nursing Home and as a clerk for Alvord Express. She attended First Baptist Church of Alvord, or enjoyed watching it on TV. Johnnie loved bird watching, attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time with her family and being on Facebook.

She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Stephanie Reaves; brother Arnold Poe; and aunt Charlotte Bell.

Johnnie is survived by her husband; daughters Kim McKee and husband, Benny, of Collinsville and Donna Reaves and husband, Jody, of Montague; grandchildren Melvin Cantrell and wife, Ashley, of Alvord, Summer Cantrell of Collinsville, Brandi Weilbacher and husband, Brent, of Plano, Brook Bingham and husband, Grant, of Pottsboro, Sidney Reaves of Bowie, Kayle Murdaugh and husband, Taylor, of El Paso, Joey Reaves of Nocona, John Reaves of Bowie and Brooke Reaves of Stephenville; great-grandchildren Bryce Berry, Brody Cantrell and Knox Johnson; and numerous, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
