James Brown

James “Bob” Brown, 79, of Chico died Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Decatur.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Chico Cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Honorary pallbearers are Ed Woolt, Mark Singletary, Ronnie Downing and D.J. Rater.

Bob was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Fort Worth to Hubert and Nina Fay (Wadley) Brown. He married Wanda Walker May 2, 1958, in Fort Worth. Bob retired from Bell Helicopter as a plastic foreman, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Darlene Strong.

Bob is survived by his wife; daughters Cynthia Diane Singleton and husband, Larry, of Odessa, Tenna Inez Rogers of Decatur and Belinda Kay Bowyer and husband, Doug, of Chico; grandchildren Tiffany Woskowicz and husband, Jesse, Tanya Miller and husband, Nathan, James Singleton, Kim Stachowiak, Teran Sands and husband, Carson, Tristyn Smith and husband, Jake, Becca Singleton, Alyssa Renick and husband, Hunter, and Cameron Cozart and husband, Cy.

Other survivors include 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Linda Douthit and husband, James, of Fort Worth, Sharon Hatcher and husband, George, of Tolar; brother-in-law Joe Strong; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
