Cecil McCleskey

Cecil McCleskey, 74, of Newark, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, in Azle.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd with William Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jay Killough, Mark Killough, Clifford Killough, Keith McCleskey, Leonard McCleskey Jr, Clayton Hall and Robert Sanders.

Cecil was born Jan. 27, 1944, in Lubbock to Paul and Myrtle (Hullum) McCleskey. He married Bernadine Tarlton June 1, 1973, in Lubbock. Cecil served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Newark Fire Department for many years. He was a retired carpenter.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 41 years.

He is survived by his sons, William, Allen and Steven Myers; daughter Kathy Myers; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include brothers Leonard McCleskey and wife, Paula, of Newark and Paul McCleskey and wife, Linda, of Haslet; and sister Barbara Killough of Newark.
