Arlon R. Morris

Arlon R. Morris, 85, of Chico, died Sunday, May 6, 2018.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow burial at Cumby Cemetery.

Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers are Corey Cowling, Carson Cowling, John Cowling, Taylor German, Walker Woolman, Braiden Black and Skylar Black.

Arlon was born Nov. 21, 1932, to Roy Leslie and Winnie (McGuire) Morris in Chico. He married Bobbie Lucille Martin Feb. 7, 1953, in Fort Worth. He worked as a farmer and rancher. Arlon was a member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico. He served on the Wise County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors. He won the Texas Zone 5 Conservation Farmer Award in 1989. He was a member of the Chico No. 433 Order Of The Eastern Star as well as a 50-year member of Chico Masonic Lodge 508 and Dallas Scottish Rite

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, John Morris; sister Lanell Morris; and brother, Roy Hulen Morris.

Arlon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bobbie Martin Morris of Chico; son, Audie Morris and wife, Lynn, of Chico; daughters, Bettie German and husband, Mark, of Chico and Peggy Black and husband, Russell, of Chico; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
