STORMS KNOCK OUT POWER – Strong thunderstorms that moved through Wise County early this morning caused power outages for about 1,300 Oncor customers in the Decatur and Rhome areas for about four hours until tree trimmers could clear the lines. As of 7:45 a.m., only seven Oncor customers in Wise County were still without power. Rainfall totals included 1.15 inches in Alvord, 0.92 in Bridgeport, 0.9 in Cottondale, 0.71 in Rhome, 0.7 in Greenwood and 0.6 in Decatur.

DECATUR BEATS GAINESVILLE – Logan Mitchell’s double started a 10-run fifth inning for the Decatur Eagles in a 16-6 win over Gainesville. Other scores: Baseball – Krum 5, Bridgeport 0; Alvord 7, Collinsville 0; Muenster 22, Chico 3; Northwest 15, Azle 1. Softball – Krum 10, Bridgeport 0; Chico 3, Valley View 2; Azle 6, Northwest 4; Gainesville 8, Decatur 1.

CRAFT FAIR – The Area Business Woman’s Network is having a craft fair to raise money for its scholarship fund. The Greater Wise Festival of Arts, Crafts and Creations is Saturday at Weatherford College Wise County. It will feature crafts, artisans, an art auction and bake sale. Booth space is available. BEEF RAFFLE – Tickets are being sold for a raffle of a side of 50 percent WAGYU beef, family-raised and pasture-fed, with custom processing, plus a $350 gift card for a freezer. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at iCopy or by calling 940-627-4465. Proceeds benefit the Jackie Murphree Honorary Scholarship. The drawing will be at the Decatur 5K Saturday, April 1, in downtown Decatur.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY – The Desk and Derrick Club of Wise County is offering scholarships to Wise County high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the high school counselors or by contacting Crystal Watkins at Crystal.Watkins@dvn.com. The application deadline is Monday, April 3.

DONKEY BASKETBALL – Donkey Basketball will be held Monday, April 3, at the McCarroll Middle School gym in Decatur. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7. The event will also feature a live and silent auction. Cost is $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Decatur Football Booster Club and the Junior Class for the junior/senior prom.

FACILITY TOURS – A tour of Alvord Middle School is 6 p.m., April 3 and will include the fieldhouse, stadium, and vocational ag facilities. The tour will conclude at the high school cafeteria with information about the district’s bond proposal. A tour of the elementary campus is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 11.

GLOW BALL – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s glow ball golf tournament is Friday, April 7. The mixer starts at 5:30 p.m., and golf starts at dusk. Cost is $50 per player. To sponsor or enter, call Lisa, 940-627-3107.

FUNERALS – Service for Valente Fernandez Jr., 23, of Decatur is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-7 tonight with rosary said at 7 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.

SERVICE for Janice Webb, 76, of Rhome is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

SERVICES for William Franklin Goolsby, 87, and Barbara Jones, 83, both of Boyd are pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

FUNERAL for James Dwight Mooney, 77, of Weatherford is 10 a.m. today at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Weatherford with burial to follow at Memory Gardens. Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Home in Weatherford is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Cy (Cecil V.) Young, 97, is 2 p.m. Friday at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
