1 SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK – A man was flown to the hospital after he wrecked his motorcycle on Farm 2264 Sunday afternoon. Department of Public Safety Trooper Ralph Wallace said the driver, Timothy Gogniat, 25, of Decatur was eastbound on FM 2264 around 5:30 p.m. when he lost control in a turn. Gogniat wrecked into a fence. Lifeteam 68 flew Gogniat from the scene to Medical City Denton. DPS, Lifeteam 68, Wise County Emergency Medical Services, Rescue 1 and East Wise Fire Rescue responded.

PATRIOT DAY PROGRAM – The Wise County Veterans Group will hold a Patriot Day program 10:30 a.m. today at the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park, 405 N. Trinity St., in Decatur. Patriot Day, observed as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, is every year on Sept. 11 in memory of 2,977 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Wise County event will include guest speakers, including Wise County Messenger Publisher Roy Eaton, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin and Decatur Fire Chief Mike Richardson. The Decatur Fire Department Honor Guard will also take part in the ceremony that will honor local first responders.

2 ARRESTED LAST WEEK IN SHOOTING CASE – Two more people were arrested last week in connection with an Aug. 7 shooting of two men in Alvord, bringing the total number arrested in the case to four. Matthew Christopher “Bo” Brown, 22, of Decatur was located and arrested Thursday afternoon in Elizabethtown, Ky., on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Earlier in the week, investigators arrested a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with the case. Akin said he will also be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Christopher Lee Bryan, 18, and David Jackson Huggins, 17, were arrested Aug. 30, and both have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity. 4-H MEETING – The Decatur 4-H Club will meet 6 p.m. today at the Decatur Public Library.

SCV MEETING – The Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold their monthly meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur Wesley Center. Gary Early will give a presentation on Confederate General Jubel Early.

ABWN – Area Business Women’s Network will hold its regular monthly lunch 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Decatur Conference Center. RSVP to info@abwn.org by noon Tuesday. DIABETES CLASSES – Total Diabetes Care at Wise Health System will hold diabetes education classes in Alvord today. The beginner class will be offered at 3 p.m., and the advanced class will be offered at 4 p.m. Both classes will be held at the First Baptist Church. The classes are intended to help those with diabetes better understand and manage the disease. Classes are free and will be taught by Dick Gilley RN, CCRN, CDE. No RSVP required. FLU SHOT CLINIC -The City of Decatur will hold a flu shot clinic 9-11 a.m. Tuesday in the City Hall Conference Room, 201 E. Walnut. It is open to the public. Bring your insurance card.

FUNERALS – Service for Rebecca Lou Mosley, 58, of Decatur is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

SERVICE for Larry Smith, 65, of Paradise is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for Faye Simons, 79, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Sue Ann Craddock, 72, of Deming, N.M., is 10:30 a.m. today at Paradise United Methodist Church. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Andrews. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
