SEPTEMBER RAINFALL – Two inches of rainfall during the last week of September kept the month from being one of the driest on record. Wise County received 2.08 inches for the month, still more than an inch below the normal rainfall amount of 3.23 inches for September. That brings the year to date total to 27.64 inches of rainfall, slightly behind the average rainfall amount through the first nine months of the year of 29.19 inches. Temperatures in the month ranged from a low of 51 on Sept. 7 to a high of 98 on Sept. 20.

FRIDAY RAINFALL – Rainfall amounts from Friday included 0.75 of an inch in Decatur and 0.2 in Alvord. Rain chances return to the forecast on Tuesday.

BOYD ROLLS TO 30TH DISTRICT WIN – Led by a diverse attack, the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets rolled to their 30th straight league victory, sweeping rival Paradise, 25-10, 25-15, 25-11. Jordyn Todd put down 12 kills and Jacey Cate nine. Autumn Finney buried 11 kills in Decatur’s 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 win over Gainesville. Alvord lost to Bryson 25-18, 25-19, 25-15. Chico fell to Graford in four games. Eaton outlasted Northwest in five games.

AGGIE MOMS MEETING – The Wise County Aggie Moms Club is meeting 6 p.m. tonight at Catfish O’Harlies in Decatur. Membership is open to those with students currently enrolled at Texas A&M University or TAMU-Galveston.

CRIME WATCH MEETING – The Bridgeport Police Department is hoping to establish a crime watch group for neighborhoods on the town’s west side after a string of petty thefts has left residents frustrated. The department will hold a community meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Outreach of Love Church, 300 Cates St. The church was previously the Twin Oaks Assembly of God. SUPPORT GROUP – The Wise Alzheimer’s Group meets 7 p.m. Tuesday in the boardroom at the Wise Health System west campus in Decatur. Call Richard, 940-255-0244.

COFFEE WITH A COP – The Bridgeport Police Department will hold Coffee with a Cop 7-9 a.m. Wednesday at Five Boys.

CHAMBER EVENTS – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon is noon to 1 p.m. today at Boyd Community Center. Speaker is United Way of Wise County Director Martin Woodruff. Lunch is $10 per person. Door prize tickets will also be available. RSVP to info@wisecountychamber.com. The chamber will hold ribbon cuttings for two new members in Rhome following the luncheon at Best Used Trucks, 359 Denton St., at 1:30 p.m. and The Weaver Firm, 101 W First St., at 2:30 p.m.

4-H EXPLOSION – Wise County 4-H will host an informational night 5:30 p.m. today at the Wise County Fairgrounds. The event will include a free hot dog dinner, games and activities and information on the 4-H program in Wise County. Call the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office at 940-627-3341.

GRAVESIDE service for Raymond “Buddy” Hull, 91, of Paradise is 11 a.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Walter Francis Pac, 92, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. Family visitation is 30 minutes before service on Saturday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Candelio Pacheto, 88, of Decatur is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

SERVICE for Carolyn Campbell, 79, of Bridgeport is 11 a.m. today at Pleasant View Baptist Church with burial at Thomas Cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Cynthia Compton, 66, of Chico is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jones-Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
