Christopher Lee Bryan, 18, and David Jackson Huggins, 17, have both been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said the shooting took place at a home in the 300 block of North Wickham Street on Aug. 7. Rhett Barclay, 17, was shot once while Brent Dixon, 41, was shot multiple times. Both survived their injuries. Akin said the shooting involved a burglary tied with drug activity and drug trafficking. 5-VEHICLE WRECK – A five-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 81/287 at Texas 114 in Rhome. About 4:45 p.m. a man in a Dodge dually attempted to take the exit from northbound U.S. 81/287 to Texas 114 West. Rhome Police Officer Brody Brown said other vehicles waiting to turn onto 114 were backed up on the exit ramp and 287. Brown said the dually driver did not realize those cars were in line to exit. The rate provides for a slight surplus of $42,000, which Elsom said is slated for the district’s general fund.
