KENNEDY TO SEEK RE-ELECTION – Precinct 4 County Commissioner Gaylord Kennedy announced Thursday he will seek re-election in 2018. Kennedy, who has served one term in office, said it feels like he just got started. “I’d like to stay another term and serve the people of Precinct 4,” he said. “We’ve got everything in order and running smoothly, and I’d like to keep that going.” Kennedy will run on the Republican ballot in the March 6 primary. FOOTBALL FRIDAY – Bridgeport is looking for its first win of the season as they host Benbrook tonight at 7:30 at Bull-Memorial Stadium. Follow along with the action @wcmsports on Twitter. In other action, Chico hosts Gainesville State School, Boyd welcomes in Jacksboro, Alvord travels to City View, Northwest is home against Brewer and Victory Christian plays at Fort Worth Hill.

BAKE SALE – A bake sale benefiting Bridgeport FFA is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today at First Financial Bank in Bridgeport. Money from the sale will be used to attend the National FFA Convention.

BLOOD DRIVE – Decatur High School Student Council is having a blood drive 8 a.m.-2 p.m. today in the high school cheer room.

TOY RUN RAFFLE – The Wise County Toy Run will be at Decatur Wal-Mart Friday, Saturday and Sunday selling $10 raffle tickets for a V-Neck Motorcycle trailer. Need not be present to win. Drawing will be held on Dec. 3.

VETERANS BREAKFAST – The Wise County Veterans Group will hold this week’s breakfast 8 a.m. Saturday at the Skydive Cowtown jump zone, located at 2215 CR 4421, in Rhome. From Decatur, go south on U.S. 81/287 approximately 8 miles until you see the large “A” frame building on the side of the road. After you pass this building, take the next turnaround back towards the building and take CR 4421 to your right. Go about a mile to Cowtown on your right.

BRIDGEPORT ALL CLASSES REUNION – Bridgeport High School’s All-Classes Reunion for classes 1950 through 1975 is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Bridgeport High School Commons Area. Class photos will be taken. Call John Barnett at 940-627-6188.

CRUISE NIGHTS – The last Cruise Nights on the Courthouse Square of 2017 is Saturday. Registration is 4-7 p.m., and awards are at 8. Cost is $15 per vehicle. Stores and restaurants on the Square will be open late for visitors. Call Decatur Main Street, 940-399-9558.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS – Ascension and St. Mark’s Church, 5094 U.S. 380 E., will hold a Blessing of the Animals 10 a.m. Saturday. Following the blessing, donations for local animal shelters will be distributed, and those who wish to are invited to join Fr. Keith Roberson for the blessing of animals at the C.A.R.E. facility in Bridgeport. ALSO, the Episcopal Church of Wise County and the First United Methodist Church of Decatur invite the community to The Blessing of the Animals 10 a.m. Saturday on the Episcopal Church grounds, 905 S. Church Street, in Decatur. Items are also being collected to give to the Wise County Animal Shelter, including bleach, puppy and kitten food, Dawn and cat litter. At both blessings, have pets on a leash or in a carrier.

BINGO NIGHT – The Paradise Emeralds will have its second annual Bingo Night 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the Bridgeport Community Center. A three-card sheet is $1. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Proceeds will be used for new uniforms and team competitions.

FUNERALS – Memorial service for Janet Crowley, 82, of Chico is pending at the Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL service for Walter Francis Pac, 92, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. Family visitation is 30 minutes before service on Saturday at the funeral home.
