VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Boyd, Northwest, Alvord earn wins

The Paradise Lady Panthers traded points early with Bowie but couldn’t keep up.
The Lady Panthers fell in three games, 32-30, 25-21, 25-21.
“We just can’t get over that hump,” said Paradise coach Danny Anderson. “We’re still working. I’ve got some great kids.
“The first game we had a lead. It just seems our errors come at crucial times.”
Paradise dropped to 0-4 in 8-3A with the loss.
“I’ve got four seniors over there. Everyone is trying to give those seniors a going away present,” Anderson said. “Our goal is to make the playoffs. At 0-4, it’s going to be a battle. I know they will continue working.”
Gracie Barnett put down nine kills. Saylea Mayfield and Ashley Kosman recorded six each.
Saylea Mayfield handed out 18 assists and Kennedy Schneck 10.
Dori Skogberg had 13 digs.

Boyd def. Nocona
The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets won their 27th straight district match Tuesday, sweeping Nocona.
Boyd (23-6, 4-0) won 25-13, 25-23, 25-11.
Jacey Cate led the Lady Yellowjackets with 10 kills and four blocks. She hit .438.
Jordyn Todd added nine kills. Shaylee Martin finished with five.
Tori Pellegrini handed out 14 assists. Macey McCune added 11.
Larrin Maxwell made 12 digs.

Northwest def. Saginaw
Bailey Tompkins buried 15 kills in just 19 attacks, hitting .684 in the Northwest Lady Texans’ sweep of Saginaw Tuesday.
Northwest (20-10) won 25-13, 25-10, 25-14 to even its record in 6-5A at 2-2.
The Lady Texans hit .352 for the match. Kori James recorded seven kills.
Analise Lucio registered 25 assists.
The Lady Texans tallied 10 aces led by Karly Stallings with five.
Oakley O’Dell made 14 digs.

Alvord def. Perrin
The Alvord Lady Bulldogs evened their record in District 9-2A with a four-game win over Perrin Tuesday.
Alvord won 25-13, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19.
Christina Thomas led the Alvord attack with 12 kills.
Kinly Walker tallied 10 kills with 14 digs. Audrey Beasley made 33 digs.
Kendall Connolly handed out 23 assists and served two aces.

Bryson def. Chico
The Chico Lady Dragons suffered their first setback in 9-2A, falling in five games to Bryson.
Chico (18-3) dropped to 3-1 in district with the 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 16-25, 15-13 loss.
“It was a hard fought game, but we just didn’t perform as fundamentally sound as we did against Alvord,” said Chico coach Jody Carter. “We made too many mistakes and when you do that, you don’t win against a good team. We will re-group and work toward defeating Ranger on Saturday.”

Christ Academy def. Bridgeport
The Bridgeport Sissies dropped their final non-district match Tuesday.
Christ Academy beat the Sissies 26-24, 26-24, 26-24.
Anna Strother put down seven kills for the Sissies. Kristen Grooms added five.
Strother also served three aces and had two blocks.
