The Paradise Lady Panthers traded points early with Bowie but couldn’t keep up.

After losing a lead in the first set, the Lady Panthers fell in three games, 32-30, 25-21, 25-21.

“We just can’t get over that hump,” said Paradise coach Danny Anderson. “We’re still working. I’ve got some great kids.

“The first game we had a lead. It just seems our errors come at crucial times.”

Paradise dropped to 0-4 in 8-3A with the loss, heading into Friday’s match against City View. The Lady Panthers were coming off a long five-game match against Jacksboro Friday in which they led 2-1 before dropping the final two sets.

“I’ve got four seniors over there. Everyone is trying to give those seniors a going away present,” Anderson said. “Our goal is to make the playoffs. At 0-4, it’s going to be a battle. I know they will continue working.”

Gracie Barnett led the Lady Panthers attack, putting down nine kills. Saylea Mayfield and Ashley Kosman recorded six each.

Saylea Mayfield handed out 18 assists and Kennedy Schneck 10.

Dori Skogberg had 13 digs.

After dropping the first set in extra points, Paradise rallied in the second to get within two, 23-21, with a kill by Barnett. Bowie was able to take the next two points to win the game.

In the third set, a pair of kills by Harley Mayfield gave Paradise an early lead. Bowie stormed back behind Ashlyn Davis, who had four kills and a block in the final set. Her final kill started a 4-1 run to close the match.
