Jordyn Todd’s record-setting season for the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets’ earned her another honor over the weekend.

The Boyd junior was named the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches’ 3A Player of the Year.

“It’s a complete honor to get chosen. It makes me think of how hard I’ve been working and that people have seen it,” Todd said.

The honor follows Todd being named 8-3A MVP hitter and to the Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A-4A all-star team.

Todd put down 580 kills and hit .252 for the season in leading Boyd to a 38-8 record and a trip to the state tournament.

“It was the best season ever. I will miss playing with all the seniors,” she said. “I’m extremely proud of what we accomplished and the way the whole town showed up at state to cheer for us.”

Todd wasn’t the only Lady Yellowjacket to receive honors.

Junior outside hitter Macee Valtr was named 3A’s top newcomer. She served a team-high 56 aces and buried 423 kills with 420 digs.

Junior libero Larrin Maxwell took the top defensive award. She made 699 digs and served 32 aces.

“I’m proud of Macee and Larrin. It lets Coach [Dusty] Crafton know she’s doing something right,” Todd said.
