Volleyball: Boyd sweeps Nocona to set up showdown for title

The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets tuned up for their Tuesday showdown with Henrietta for the 8-3A title with a sweep of Nocona Saturday.

Boyd (29-7) moved to 10-1 in district with the 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 victory.

Boyd hit .254 for the match with Tori Pellegrini handing out 18 assists and Macey McCune 14.

Macee Valtr led the offense with 14 kills, hitting .414. Jordyn Todd finished with 13 kills.

Defensively, Boyd piled up seven blocks. Jacey Cate tallied four. Todd and Laney Pellegrini registered three each.

Tori Pellegrini made 15 digs and Todd 14.


The Chico Lady Dragons handed Bryson just its second defeat in District 9-2A Saturday.

Led by 17 kills from Jessica Byers, Chico won 25-22, 14-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Chico (23-5) improved to 8-3 in district.

Michaela Martin added five kills and five blocks.

Laynee North set the ball 63 times.

Maddie Hager served six aces.


The Alvord Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-6 in District 9-2A with a three-set win over Perrin Saturday.

Alvord (13-13) won 25-22, 25-21, 25-19.

Kinly Walker buried 10 kills with 30 digs and an ace. Christina Thomas put down eight kills.

Kendall Connolly handed out 19 assists.

Abbey Bloomer made 32 digs and Audrey Beasley 28.


The Northwest Lady Texans kept their playoff hopes alive Friday with a victory over Saginaw.

Northwest (23-14) won 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 to move to 5-6 in the league. The Lady Texans entered Tuesday’s match with Azle two behind Eaton with three to play.

Kori James tallied 15 kills, hitting .355. She also had 16 digs.

Analise Lucio handed out 19 assists with six kills.
