Softball: Bowie piles up late runs to beat Boyd

Bowie scored 13 runs over the final three innings in a 14-8 victory over the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets Friday.

Bowie rallied from a 4-1 deficit with seven runs in the fifth that included RBI-doubles by Taylor McCarty, Makaila McCarty and Hattie Hammer.

Kayleigh Pappajohn started a three-run bottom of the fifth for the Lady Yellowjackets with a solo homer.

But after Boyd pulled within a run, 8-7, Bowie’s Taylor McCarty hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Bowie added four in the top of the seventh.

Jordan Salmon went 3-for-5 and scored three runs for the Lady Yellowjackets. Lindsey Thorpe drove in three runs.

Boyd (6-16) dropped its third straight game, falling to 5-5 in District 8-3A. Boyd went to Holliday Tuesday and will play Paradise at home at 11 a.m. Friday.
