Cross Country: Texans win Gingerbread Jamboree

Northwest runners swept the top three spots as the Texans cruised to the title at the Gingerbread Jamboree at Camp Copass in Denton Thursday.

Jacob Webster held off teammates Carson Hughes and Joseph Thomas for the victory in the 5K in 17:04. Hughes was second in 17:08 and Thomas third in 17:22.

Northwest finished with 52 points – 98 better than second-place Keller Fossil Ridge.

Freshman Robert Norton took 17th in 18:46. Spencer Marrow was the fifth Texan, finishing 29th in 19:21.

David Rosero ran 19:35 for 36th and Triston Wright 19:55 for 48th.

The Northwest Lady Texans took second to Frisco Reedy with 70 points.

Taylor Esquivel finished sixth in 21:19. Allison O’Connor ran 21:31 for seventh, Jennica Cavaness 22:30 for 20th, Makenna Hill 22:54 for 23rd and Ashley Terrien 22:58 for 24th.

Jessica Mason was 30th in 23:17 and Hannah Krueger 51st in 24:33.

Alvord took 10th in the girls division with 249 points.

Cazet Carpenter ran 23:56 for 37th. Paycee Edgett finished 40th in 24:14, Twani Hamilton 45th in 24:25, Abbey Bloomer 75th in 25:47 and Maranda Edwards 91st in 26:52.

Taylor Magg was 92nd in 27 minutes and Miranda Smith 109th in 28:17.
