Cross Country: Sissies win meet

Marisol Fraga led the Sissies to a win with a second-place finish at the Keller Classic Saturday. Fraga covered the 3,200-meter course in 12:30.47, a personal record.

She was followed to the finish by Melanie Guzman, who took fourth in 13:12.87, and Tariana Cervantes, who broke personal records to finish fifth in 13:31.13. Breana Martinez was 11th in 14:12.35, Karen Ibarra 17th in 14:29.67, and Lexi Shield 19th in 14:55.17. Jennifer Huerta finished in 15:06.41 for 20th.

Mineral Wells’ Beatriz Martinez won the contest in 12:29.31, The Rams were second overall with 36 points. Peaster took third with 55.

BULLS FINISH FOURTH

Bridgeport ran to a fourth-place finish at the Keller Classic Saturday behind fast finishes from brothers Manuel and Salvador Garcia, who both broke into the meet’s top 20.

Manuel Garcia took 15th in 16:33.15 on the 5K course. Salvador Garcia was 16th in 16:34.31. Fort Worth Christian’s Carter Cheeseman won the meet in 14:42.44. Keller Timber Creek took the overall win with 38 points. Bridgeport had 167.

Bridgeport’s Rigo Alvarez finished 39th in 17:23.97. In 42nd place was Eric Aguilar with a time of 17:27:06. Nathanael Phillips took 56th in 18:03.56. Jose Huerta was 72nd in 18:30.06. Javier Huerta netted 73rd in 18:31.47.

YELLOWJACKETS TAKE SECOND IN LUBBOCK

Boyd finished second in the Lubbock Invitational Saturday in the 3A 5K. Connor Richardson was the team’s top finisher, taking ninth in 16:57.8 at Mae Simmons Park.

Richardson was followed in by Tristan Lemasters, who claimed 10th in 17 minutes. Gauge Fahlin was 21st in 17:23.4. Colton Lawson finished 30th in 18:01.7. Blake Rodgers took 46th in 18:25.3 and Lucas Loya was 61st in 18:59.0.

Tornillo’s Daniel Amaya won the contest in 16:03.2. Tornillo won the meet overall with a score of 32. Boyd had 104, ahead of Crane with 106 in 3rd.

LADY YELLOWJACKETS TAKE NINTH

Carrie Schwartz finished just outside the top 10 to lead the Lady Yellowjackets to ninth overall at the Lubbock Invitational Saturday. Schwartz was 13th in 12:50.1 on the 3,200-meter course in the 3A girls race.

Kristain Bowen was Boyd’s next finisher, taking 43rd in 13:44.5. Georgie Tullos was 55th in 13:57.2. Mary Miller netted 57th in 14:01.9. Emma Clark took 96th in 14:56.4.

Idalou’s Madelyn Merrell won the race in 12:09.7. Ballinger won the meet overall with a score of 50. Boyd had 228.
