Cross Country: Lady Eagles sweep top 10

The Decatur Lady Eagles turned in a dominant performance at the Denton Guyer Wildcat Prowl Saturday at South Lakes Park.

Led by Taylor Butler’s 11:34 on the 3,200-meter course, Decatur swept the top 10 spots. Decatur won the title with 15 points.

Hanul Lewis finished second in 11:56. Makenzie Fox took third in 12:18. Kayla Leal was fourth in 12:25 and Elizabeth Culpepper fifth in 12:29.

Vanessa Sanders ran 13:01 for sixth and Audri Baber 13:03 for seventh.

Salma Pena was eighth in 13:06, Parker Johnson ninth in 13:11 and Emily Hubbard 10th in 13:17.

The Decatur boys finished fifth in the elite boys 5K with 105 points.

Alan Rangel ran 16:06 for fifth. Triston Read took 16th in 16:32, Gabe Embree 24th in 16:42, Sergio Sanchez 25th in 16:43 and Christian Isaac 36th in 17:16.

Charles Doubrava was 37th in 17:16 and Anthony Rodriguez 52nd in 17:41.


The Boyd Yellowjackets captured the 4A-and-under title Saturday at the Paschal Invitational.

Boyd tallied 51 points with four runners in the top 13.

Connor Richardson took third, covering the 5K distance in 17:20. Tristan Lemasters finished fifth in 17:45 with Gauge Fahlin a step behind him. Manny Garcia grabbed 13th in 18:04. Colton Lawson ran 19:19 for 27th. Lucas Loya was 28th in 19:20.

The Boyd girls finished second with 69 points.

Carrie Schwartz claimed second in the 3,200-meter race, running 12:59.

Kristain Bowen took fifth in 13:32. Georgie Tullos ran 13:47 for 10th. Mary Miller finished 23rd in 14:16, Emma Clark 41st in 15:30, Paytin Bulllard 45th in 15:41 and Sabrina Johns 75th in 20:17.


The Northwest Lady Texans finished ninth with 240 points in the girls 5K at the Ken Garland Invitational Saturday at UNT’s Discovery Park.

Ashley Terrien ran 23:08 for 45th. Makenna Hill finished 58th in 23:39. Hannah Krueger was 60th in 23:41, Betsy Underwood 64th in 24:13 and Rachel Caroon 66th in 24:22.

Paige O’Connor took 87th in 26:03.

The Texans finished 13th with 326 points.

Robert Norton ran 18:28 for 30th. David Roseo finished 53rd in 18:51, Spencer Marrow 76th in 19:37 and Triston Wright 94th in 20:25. John Cooke was 109th in 21:42.


Alvord’s Colton Parker won the 5K at the Slidell Invitational Saturday.

Parker ran an 18:31 to hold off Slidell’s Hunter Horner, who took second in 18:49.

Slidell finished third as a team with 50 points.

Carlos Gonzalez ran 20:12 for 11th. Easton Vanover was 13th in 20:18, Dillon Fortune 17th in 20:50, Brady Vanover 20th in 21:04, Ben McCasland 22nd in 21:25 and Brock Harwell 27th in 23:05.

Alvord’s Cody Price ran 23:19 for 29th.

Slidell finished fourth with 100 points in the girls race.

Sydney Keating took 17th, running 16:05 in the 3,200.

Maddie Meyer finished 20th in 16:25, Ashley Mayabb 27th in 19:43, Jayden Ellison 28th in 19:58 and Jenny Licea 29th in 23:02.
