Cross Country: Bulls, Sissies win races

The Bridgeport Bulls and Sissies cross country teams brought home titles at the Parker County Championships Saturday at Canyon West Golf Course.

The Sissies won the girls division with 34 points, beating Springtown by 23.

Marisol Fraga captured the individual title, running 13:39 on the 3,200-meter course.

Tariana Cervantes ran 14:14 for fourth. Melanie Guzman turned in a 14:22 for sixth. Kristen Grooms ran 14:38 for ninth. Breana Martinez was 16th in 15:11, Karen Ibarra 22nd in 15:39, Veronica Valdez 23rd in 15:39 and Lexi Shield 26th in 15:42.

The Bulls won the boys race with 34 points, 24 better than Southwest Christian.

Salvador Garcia won the 5K in 17:19. Manuel Garcia ran 17:41 for fourth. Eric Aguilar was eighth in 18:05, Rigo Alvarez 11th in 18:41, Nathanael Phillips 16th in 19:04, Jose Huerta 27th in 20:08 and Javier Huerta 28th in 20:09.


Running in the tough 6A/5A race at the Southlake Invitational, the Northwest Texans finished 21st with 577 points.

Jacob Webster led Northwest, running a 16:10 on the 5K course for 32nd. Carson Hughes ran 16:27 for 56th, Joseph Thomas 16:36 for 71st, Triston Wright 18:15 for 230th and Robert Norton 18:16 for 232nd.

In the girls race, the Lady Texans were 28th. Taylor Esquivel ran 20:29 for 112th on the 5K course. Allison O’Connor was 114th in 20:30. Jennica Cavaness finished 162nd in 21:24, Jessica Mason 201st in 22:12 and Ashley Terrien 203rd in 22:14.
