Cross Country: Bulls charge to win at Stampede

Led by Salvador Garcia’s second-place finish, the Bridgeport Bulls won the MSU/Strohman Stampede Thursday.

Salvador Garcia turned an 18:16 on the 5K course at Lake Arrowhead in Wichita Falls.

The Bulls had four runners in the top seven, finishing with 28 points.

Manuel Garcia finished third in 19:04. Eric Aguilar was fifth in 19:33 and Rigo Alvarez seventh in 19:50. Javier Huerta took 17th in 20:44. Nathanael Phillips was 23rd in 21:03 and Jose Huerta 26th in 21:20.

The Bridgeport Sissies took third with 74 points.

Marisol Fraga took second in 16:42 on a 4K course. Tariana Cervantes finished with 11th in 17:50, Kristen Grooms 18th in 18:13, Breana Martinez 21st in 18:25 and Karen Ibarra 36th in 19:04. Yadira Cervantes was 56th in 19:52 and Lexi Shield 59th in 20:03.

Alvord finished fourth with 94 points.

Cazet Carpenter led the Lady Bulldogs, finishing 13th in 17:51. Paycee Edgett ran 18:03 for 16th, Jocelyn Tambunga 18:34 for 25th, Twani Hamilton 18:35 for 26th and Abbey Bloomer 18:43 for 29th. Shae Wade was 31st in 18:48 and Aubrey Mitchell 41sh in 19:23.


The Paradise Lady Panthers finished fourth with 107 points Friday at the Cleburne Yellowjacket Invitational.

Kaycee Martin ran 11:10 on the 3,200-meter course to finish fifth. Hannah Beth Pearson took sixth in 11:11. Maddie Mitschke finished in 11:19 for ninth. Emerson Adams took 43rd in 12:48 and Allyson Black 44th in 12:54.

Rose Powers was 55th in 13:14 and Ciera Brock 64th in 13:34.

The Paradise Panthers garnered third in the 4A-and-under race with 95 points.

Matthew Eisen finished third in 17:03 on the 5K course. Kobe Wakefield ran 17:56 for 13th, Jacoby Isaacs 18:22 for 19th, Justin Culp 18:56 for 30th and Ryan Austin 19:36 for 40th.

Cordell Scarlett took 42nd in 19:50 and Masun Luna 69th in 22:23.


Chico’s Raul Warnock finished fourth in the 5K at the Lipan Invitational Wednesday.

Warnock ran 17:53.

Daniel Para took 40th in 22:04. Nico Pullido was 52nd in 25:53.

In the girls 3,200, Cassie Byers finished 13th in 14:43. Danielle Gilmore finished a step behind her in 14th.

Destiny Stack was 28th in 15:31, Adafne Chavez 35th in 16:13 and Janet Chavez 56th in 18:34.
