The Northwest Texans clinched a share of the 6-5A crown Friday by blasting district mate Eaton 75-54.

Avery Anderson poured in 36 points. Tucker Dunn added 10 points with eight rebounds and six assists.

With the victory, Northwest (27-5) moved to 12-1 in district. The Texans could capture the outright league crown with a victory Tuesday over Brewer, who was one game back of the Texans and tied with Chisholm Trail. As the No. 1 seed, Northwest would face 5-5A’s fourth-place team Sherman in bi-district.

If Brewer beat Northwest and Chisholm Trail took down Azle, there would be a three-way tie. Northwest coach Mike Hatch said the schools would decide Wednesday how to break the tie.

Northwest made sure Eaton would not pose a threat to its title aspirations early Friday. The Texans led by seven after the first quarter and by 18 at halftime, 35-17.
