Basketball: Lady Eagles use big first half to beat Springtown

Behind a big first half, the Decatur Lady Eagles beat the Springtown Lady Porcupines 45-32 Tuesday night.

Decatur took a 29-14 lead into halftime, quickly jumping out to a double-digit advantage.

Kylee Fitzgerald led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 12 points, while dishing out five assists and grabbing three rebounds. Mackenzie Whitaker chipped in six points and corralled 10 rebounds.

With the victory, Decatur improved to 9-8 on the season. The Lady Eagles now get a week of rest before competing in the NCTC Tournament in Gainesville Dec. 28-30.

BRIDGEPORT 78, CELINA 45

The Bridgeport Sissies extended their winning streak to six games Tuesday night, routing Celina 78-45.

Four Bridgeport players ended the game in double figures, led by Emily Vidal’s 20 points.

Lexine Stone finished the night with 15. Ashley Ingram and Jolene Torres had 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Sissies led 41-20 at halftime and 66-30 going into the fourth quarter.

With the win, Bridgeport improves to 13-1 on the year and is now ranked 24th in the state.

The Sissies resume action on Dec. 28 in the Whataburger Tournament.
