Hawthorne scored 18 to pace Boswell to the 63-43 victory at Texan Gym.

Boswell’s full-court pressure held Northwest to a combined 14 points in the second and third quarters, building a 47-24 lead. Northwest turned the ball over 11 times in the third quarter alone, hitting only two field goals.

“That’s what they do and what they hang their hat on,” said Northwest coach John Parris about the Boswell defense.

“That’s what they do every day – press, press, press. They do it well.”

Northwest had won three in a row to start district. It also went 3-1 over the Christmas holidays.

“We liked the 3-0 start, but we know it’s just a start. You can’t win district early, but you can lose it,” Parris said. “It’s nice get out to a good start. We’re going to put this one behind us and get ready for the next game.”

Northwest takes on Chisholm Trail Friday.

Alexus Brigham led the Lady Texans with 15 points. Cierra Smith added nine.

Northwest hung in the game early, trailing by three, 13-10, going into the second quarter. Boswell then went on a 18-7 run to take a 31-17 halftime lead. Hawthorne had eight points in the second quarter.

Audrey Warren finished with 14 for Boswell, who moved to 4-0 in the league.
