Boston McIntire worked a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth to give the Boyd Yellowjackets a 5-4 win over the Paradise Panthers to keep them in a tie atop District 8-3A.
Boyd (12-15-1) entered Tuesday in a four-way tie with Henrietta, Jacksboro and Holliday at 7-3 for the top spot in the league. Bowie is a game back at 6-4 and Paradise is two back at 5-5.
All teams will have two games remaining after Tuesday. Boyd faces two of its co-leaders – Henrietta Friday and Jacksboro April 28.
Paradise ends district with Jacksboro and Bowie.
Paradise took a 2-0 lead on Boyd. The Panthers used four walks in the first to score a run and added another in the second with a single from Brad Young.
Boyd struck back with three in the fifth on Creighton Witt’s two-run single and Payton Brown’s hit.
Paradise regained the lead with Mikey Passariello’s two-run single with two out in the seventh. Passariello went 2-for-5 with the two RBIs.
Matt Whalen had three hits for the Panthers.
Jerrit Rawlings sent the game into extra innings with a RBI-single in the bottom of the frame. Rawlings and Witt had multiple hits for the Yellowjackets.
