Squash negativity

In response to Steve Misner’s letter published Nov. 22:

What was the purpose of your letter? Was it just to be negative toward the newspaper and the “eight” Democrats who attended the event or was it to make fun of them with your “haha.” I promise there are more than eight Democrats in Wise County, and the party is growing every day.

What makes our country so strong is the freedom of choice to each of our beliefs. We are not a cookie-cutter society. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but two different opinions allow for the beginning of a conversation and sharing of ideas. Before we can bridge the divide created by our political differences, we have to remove the bullying, arguing and negativity that is happening on both sides.

United we stand, divided we fall. We are all citizens of the United States of America, no matter what party we belong to, and once we stop knocking each other down we can stand together as stronger, smarter and better Americans.
