Disturbed by grammar mistake

I read with interest the ghost articles in the Oct. 28 Messenger. Being a student of long-ago schooling where proper English usage was taught, I was disturbed by the improper wordage use in the articles.

A person cannot hung themselves or can a person be hung as a type of death procedure. The proper word in those instances is hanged. A person hanged themselves or a person was hanged.

It is a shame that education no longer teaches the basics in all subjects. Basic math, grammar, history and other subjects have gone the way of the internet, smartphones and calculators. I doubt that any student in the current Wise County school districts can diagram a sentence or know how to multiply by nines.

In any case, I do not want to be hanged for writing this article.
