The Decatur Water Board has called an election for Nov. 7 to bring property recently annexed by the city into the Wise County Water Supply District.

The district, an entity of the city, purchases untreated water from Lake Bridgeport and transports it to the water treatment plant.

The legislation that created the district more than 50 years ago requires voter approval to add newly annexed areas to the tax base. Under its water purchase agreement with Tarrant Regional Water District, the city is not allowed to sell water to those outside the city limits.

The election will be at the same time as the statewide election on constitutional amendments.
