A Bridgeport woman was arrested Sunday after firing a gun at another person in a residential neighborhood.

Shannon Geninatti Hardy

Bridgeport Police Chief Steve Stanford said his office received a call just before 1 p.m. about a disturbance in the 1500 block of Brush Drive involving a woman firing a gun at a man. Officers responded and arrested Shannon Geninatti Hardy, 41, who lives in the 1500 block of Brush Drive, according to jail records.

Stanford said officers determined Hardy and her significant other were involved in an argument prior to the shooting.

“They were fighting over prescription drugs,” Stanford said. “Allegedly, her significant other had taken some of her medication, or stolen it, and a disturbance ensued. She removed her 9 mm on Brush Street and fired one round as he ran down the street.”

Stanford said police could not locate the victim for about an hour, but once he was located, officers determined he had not been struck by a bullet and was not injured.

No one else was injured in the shooting, either, he said.

“One of the things that concerned us was the victim ran toward the apartment complex to the north where there could have been kids in the area outside on a Sunday afternoon,” Stanford said.

Police did recover the weapon they believe was used in the shooting.

Hardy was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released from the Wise County Jail Monday afternoon after posting $20,000 bail.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bridgeport Police on the call.
