The new Paradise Museum will open to the public Saturday, Sept. 30 during the town’s Main Street Festival.

The museum’s official ribbon cutting will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4, but the Paradise Historical Society wanted to open it during the festival. Visitors will be able to see the limited-time Machine Gun Kelly exhibit — photos from his arrest and trial, his wanted poster and a replica machine gun  — on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the Machine Gun Kelly exhibit, the museum also houses a 19th century organ, a veterans’ wall, old Paradise school house photos and Paradise yearbooks from 1941-1999.

“They’re all favorites,” historical society member Gay Read said of the exhibits. “I’m so proud of everything everyone has donated. It’s just been great.”

The historical society has been raising funds for the museum since 1999. They will take donations for the upkeep of the building during the museum’s open hours at the Main Street Festival.
