PARK CLASSIC – The 26th Annual Park Classic Golf Tournament is Friday, Oct. 6, at Decatur Golf and Country Club. Registration is 9 a.m. with tee time at 10. PAINT THE TOWN PINK – Paint the Town Pink, celebrating breast cancer survivors and remembering those lost, is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Decatur square. There will be a bake sale, raffles, special promtions with local businesses, and a pink line ceremony. All proceeds benefit Mary’s Gift and Women’s Services at Wise Health System. GOLF TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Lions Club and Decatur Boy Scout Troop 121 is having their 13th annual golf tournament Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Decatur Country Club. Registration for the four-player scramble is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9. Cost is $60 per person, which includes lunch, green fee and cart. Mulligans will be sold. CHAMBER AUCTION – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce dinner and auction is 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Decatur Conference Center. This year’s theme is Halloween Under the Big Top. Come dressed in Halloween or circus attire for the costume contest. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. MONEY FOR REPAIRS – The Decatur Lions Club is asking current and past members for donations to repair the club’s building. The club is seeking one-time donations and pledges to be paid monthly over a period not to exceed 24 months. It is also selling brick pavers for $100 each. DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.


BINGO NIGHT – The Paradise Emeralds will have its second annual Bingo Night 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Bridgeport Community Center. A three-card sheet is $1. Food and drinks will be available for puchase. Proceeds will be used for new uniforms and team competitions.


LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4 to 5 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

TAIL WAGGIN’ TUTORS – Eva and Honey return for the fall 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 11 and Nov. 8. The dogs provide a stress-free, relaxing environment in which to practice reading. RAISING AWARENESS – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and to raise awareness, Wise Hope encourages people to paint the nail on their left ring finger purple. Post pictures on social media with the hashtags #WiseHope and #PutTheNailInit.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur.

FLAG RETIREMENT – There is a box at the Paradise Veterans Memorial Park designed for people to drop off unserviceable flags to be properly collected and retired by BSA Troop 194 of Bridgeport. It will take all Texas and United States flags, as well as other state and country flags.


SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT – The SSG Kevin Skodack Memorial Softball Tournament is Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Little Elm softball fields, 701 W. Eldorado Pkwy. Games begin at 8 a.m. Cost is $250 per team. YARD SALE – Pleasant Grove Baptist No. 2 is having a yard sale 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5-6 to benefit its children’s outdoor playground fund. BLESSING OF ANIMALS – The Episcopal Church of Wise County and the First United Methodist Church of Decatur, invite the community to The Blessing of the Animals 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, on the Episcopal Church grounds, 905 S. Church Street, in Decatur. Have pets on a leash or in a carrier. Items are also being collected to give the Wise County Animal Shelter, including bleach, puppy and kitten food, Dawn and cat litter.

LORD’S ACRE – The First United Methodist Church of Boyd will have its annual Lord’s Acre Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 14. The festival will include games and activities for children, homemade baked goods, crafts, vendor booths and a flea market. The Wise County Sheriff’s Office mobile unit will be available to tour. A homemade turkey dinner will be served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with to-go plates available. There will be a live auction at 1:30 p.m. There will be a Carter blood drive 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the event.

KINGDOM MEN – The First Baptist Church of Decatur is hosting Kingdom Men with Dennis Swanber 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Decatur Conference Center. For tickets, call 940-627-3235. Donations will be accepted for Warmth for Wise, Keeping Children Warm in Wise County.

BULLS AND BARRELS – Wise County Cowboy Church has bull riding and a barrel expo every Thursday at 7 p.m. Cost for bull riding is $10 (all the bulls you can ride) with a $30 jackpot. Cost for barrels is $3. The church is at 2070 Old Denton Road, off U.S. 380.
