Otho Eugene Lauderdale

Otho Eugene “Gene” Lauderdale, 75, formerly of Sunset and most recently of Midland, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at White Funeral Home in Bowie. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers and special friends are J.S. Powers, Donnie Powers, Pancho Redwine, Will Odell, Barry Clark and Jeremy Teter.

Gene was born June 13, 1942, in Bowie to Elsie and Charlie Lauderdale. He married the love of his life, Wilma Jean Lauderdale, April 25, 1969, and they enjoyed 48 years together.

Gene spent his life helping others and taking care of his family. His family was his top priority, and he went above and beyond to ensure their needs were met.

He had an unmatched work ethic, and he enjoyed traveling the country with his wife. His coworkers and friends valued his loyalty and compassion for everyone.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; uncle “Mose” Lauderdale; brother Tom Lauderdale; and grandson Aaron Gower.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Debbie Dore and husband, Mike, of Lake Dallas; son Richard Lauderdale and wife, Miranda, of Midland; grandsons David Dore of Lake Dallas and Jacob Lauderdale of Midland.

Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Melba Brinkley “Mama Melba” of Bowie; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
