Mary Helen Greer, 86, of Decatur, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, in Decatur.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Rick Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Timothy Garcia, Kyle Stephens Jr., Ronald Willis, Bart Mueller, Devon Willis and Blake Tucker.

Mary was born July 14, 1931, in Bremond to A.J. and Nora (Dowdy) Swingler. She married Jackie Stephens Nov. 3, 1951, and was married 46 years until his passing in 1997. Mary was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ. She owned and operated a dairy farm and worked for 1st National Bank in Decatur for 20 years. Mary married Carl Thomas Greer Jan. 21, 2002, in Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and sisters Pat Sellmand and Ann Ward.

Mary is survived by her husband; son Russell Stephens and wife, Rebecca, of Decatur; stepdaughters Sue Newcomb of Decatur and Cara Gail Willis and husband, Ronald, of Decatur; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
