Mary Elaine Davis

Mary Elaine Davis, 93, of Enid, Okla., died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, in Oklahoma City.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with Bill Legget and Dr. Brian Bosworth officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery.

There is no scheduled visitation Monday. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

Pallbearers are Eric Carroll, John Davis, Paul Kuntz, Gary Boyd, Rob Davis and Chris Davis.

Mary was born June 25, 1924, in Lubbock to Roland and Lucille (Wood) Suggs. She married Lavaughn V. Davis March 22, 1963, in Abilene. Mary retired as a clerk for AT&T, and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. She was very involved in the community and a part of many organizations including the Federation of Women, the Decatur Rotary Club, the Decatur Committee on Aging, American Legion Auxiliary, Member of Democratic Party of Texas, the Wise County Historical Society and also was precinct chair of the Democratic Party in Garfield County, Okla.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister Barbara Peterson; and nephew David Peterson.

She is survived by her stepsons, Larry Davis and wife, Linda, of Flint, Tony Davis of Austin and Sam Davis and wife, Nina, of Austin; niece Diane Kliewer and husband, Don, of Enid, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Jane Miller of Burlington, Vt.; nephews Steve and Terry Miller of New York City; great-niece Christal Weber and husband, Dustin, of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and friends.
