Marcella Vernice Shaw, 90, of Decatur, died Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Decatur.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Pleasant Grove No. 1 Cemetery with the Rev. Van Gardner officiating.

Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

Marcella was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Love County, Okla., to Alfred “Cap” and Hattie (Whisenhunt) Cavins. She married Curtis Oman Shaw Jr. March 25, 1931, in Mineola. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Vernon Gale Darter in December 1945 and Curtis O. “Jiggs” Shaw Jr. in January 1999.

Marcella is survived by her sons, Marvin Ray Darter and wife, Dianne, of Fort Worth and Dorrell Craig “Scooter” Shaw and wife, Ann, of Decatur; daughter Venna Debra “Debbie” Gardner and husband, Van, of Decatur; grandchildren Nicole Darter Tittle, Audria Shaw Clark, Toby Craig Shaw, Kimberly Shaw Irwin, Katie Lynn Shaw, Van William Gardner II, John Cody Gardner and Brett Andrew Gardner; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
