Lynn Mowery

Lynn Mowery, 88, of Decatur died Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, in Decatur.

Funeral was Oct. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial followed at Lonestar Cemetery.

Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur handled arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jerrod Mowery, Gregg Vail, Derrick Mowery, Jace Halter, Rusty Hand and Todd Buckner.

Honorary pallbearers were Justin Mowery, Todd Mowery, Travis Vail and Ryon Bullock.

Lynn was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Bowie to Walter Lee and Minnie Lee (Mitchell) Mowery. He married Gladys Papstein Feb. 4, 1983, in Chico.

Lynn drove a truck for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Bill Dick Mowery and Joe Lynn Mowery; and eight siblings.

He’s survived by his wife of 34 years, Gladys Mowery of Decatur; daughter Melinda Goodnight and husband, Eddie, of Denton; sons Walt Mowery and wife, Brenda, of Chico and John Mowery and wife, Judy, of Justin; daughters Kristine Johnson and husband, Rick, of Wenatchee, Wash., Susan Bullock and husband, Kal, of Spokane, Wash., Lori Halter and husband, Darrell, of Bridgeport; 10 grandsons; five granddaughters; numerous great-grandchildren; and many friends.
