LaVerne Eula Manire

LaVerne Eula Manire, 87, of Weatherford, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at North Side Baptist Church with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford is handling arrangements.

LaVerne was born and raised in Bridgeport. Her parents were Lela and Frank Wood. LaVerne lived in Weatherford most of her life. She owned and operated South Bowie Day Care for the past 32 years. LaVerne was a longtime member of North Side Baptist Church and served as a director of G.A.’s for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Rowboat” Manire; son-in-law Bob Carter; sister Lorene and Wayne Garrett; and brother Benny Wood.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Carter of Weatherford; sons Tracy Manire and wife, Melinda, of Weatherford, Joey Manire and wife, Teresa, of Arlington; brother James Wood and wife, Shirley, of Decatur; and sister-in-law Bennie Wood of Fort Worth.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carly Manire, Joe Carter, Chrystal and husband, Jack Owens, Tara and husband, Jason DeFrance and Katie and husband, Taylor JuVette; and great-grandchildren Corbin and Haylin DeFrance.

Memorial donations may be made to Parker Paws or North Side Baptist Church.
