Judy Jean Teal, 73, of Rhome, died Friday, May 12, 2017, in Decatur.

Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Aurora Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Withers officiating.

Visitation is at the church one hour prior to the service. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

Judy was born Nov. 27, 1943, in Savannah, Okla., to Fred and Robbie (Bell) Cox. She married Charles Marvin Teal March 18, 1987, in Las Vegas. Judy retired from teaching. She was a dedicated teacher, having received a master’s degree in education, and was a member of Aurora Baptist Church. Judy loved to travel and had a passion for people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Scotty Mac Nix; brothers Rauel Cox and Lavon Cox.

She is survived by sons WC Nix III and wife, Jennifer, of McKinney and Preston Loyd Nix and wife, Mary Elizabeth of Heath; daughter Tammy Jean Adcock and husband, Brad, of Newark; stepdaughter Sandra Pulliam of Georgia; and grandchildren Hunter Nix, Jade Nix, Hannah Adcock, Halyn Adcock, Preston Nix, Payton Nix, Palmer Nix, Presley Nix, Porter Nix, Paxton Nix, Kameron Nix and Kalison Nix.

Other survivors include daughter-in-law Kelly Nix; brothers Loy Cox and wife, Charlene, and Scott Cox; sisters Nancy Reese and Sarah Garrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Senior Care Center in Decatur or the Aurora Baptist Church.
