Dorothy S. Chase

Dorothy S. “Dottie” Chase, 80, of Willard, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, in Willard.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Willard with the Revs. Luigi Perez and Doug Winner officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Secor Funeral Home in Willard.

Dorothy was born in 1937 in Northville, Mich., to Roy Herbert and Thelma Dyce (Thornton) Schryer. She was a 1954 Willard High School graduate, a wife and mother. Dottie was dedicated to her Lord, Jesus Christ, and used her talents to help others. She counseled new Christians around the world, as well as giving her time and talent to her local church wherever she lived.

She was also a volunteer for many organizations: a reporter for the Sandusky Register and Good News, executive secretary for the Willard Chamber of Commerce; a computer bookkeeping consultant; a member of the 20th Century Club in Justin; and a charter member of Renew. When she had free time, Dottie enjoyed reading, tennis, bridge, word searches, puzzles, shopping and bowling. She once bowled a 300! Dottie enjoyed her family most of all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Juanita Alice Rickett (Schryer); brothers-in-law Charlie Reel, Bob Chase, Dennis Vance and John Chase and his wife, Judy (Faust) Chase.

Dottie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Ralph Chase; son Rick Chase and wife, Jean, and their children, Brad Chase and Amy Chase Ashley and husband, Joel; daughter Ginny Chase; sister Virginia Reel; brother George Schryer and wife, Gail; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Stein Hospice of Sandusky, Grace United Methodist Church in Willard, Justin United Methodist Church in Justin or the Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA).
