Alvord and Chico athletes will make their bids for area spots Thursday at the District 10-2A meet in Valley View.

The Lady Bulldogs’ Paycee Edgett will try to take the first step to making a return to regionals in the 400.

Karissa Woodall made it to area last year in the triple jump for Alvord.

Kaely Beaver was a state qualifier last year in the shot put.

“We have young talent and are looking to gain some experience,” said Alvord girls coach Chasen Jackson.

The Lady Dragons return Alli York in the 100 hurdles and long jump. She will be among the league favorites in both events.

Britton Petty has a chance to medal in the 200 and pole vault.

The Alvord boys’ Frank Williams and Crese Redman will be among the top sprinters in the 100 and 200. Both will also help pace the 4×100 and 4×200.

The Dragons’ Kalan Johnson will also contend in the 200.
