Softball: Lady Eagles blank Denton, 2-0

Freshman Reagan Chism struck out 12 and held Denton to just four hits in the Decatur Lady Eagles’ 2-0 win Friday.

Chism walked one.

“Reagan looked sharp,” said Decatur coach Carly Cloud.

The Lady Eagles provided Chism all the run support she needed with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Savannah Wilson led off with a single. Macy Downe ran for Wilson and advanced to second on a passed ball. Marissa McDuff reached on an error. Caitlin Butler then loaded the bases with a single.

After Denton turned a double play, Chism singled home Caitlin Butler. Taylor Butler, who had reached on the double play, scored on a passed ball.

Decatur will play in the Burkburnett Tournament this weekend.


The Northwest Texans moved to 6-0 on the season by winning the Little Elm Tournament over the weekend.

Northwest was 5-0 at the tournament. The Lady Texans closed out the weekend with a 5-2 victory over Little Elm.

Texas-signee Tuesday DerMargosian went 3-for-4 and doubled. Izzie Milligan tripled and drove in two runs.

Emily Worley struck out nine and allowed one earned run on six hits in seven innings.


The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets took four of five over the weekend at the Brock Tournament.

After an opening 5-4 loss to Abilene Wylie, Boyd beat Amarillo Tascosa 10-3 and 7-1 and Tolar 6-3 and 12-5.

Kristin Rasbury went 3-1 in the circle, allowing 16 hits and 14 runs – nine earned – over 20 innings with 15 strikeouts.

Rasbury doubled, tripled and drove in six runs.

Payton Salmon drove in five with three doubles.


The Bridgeport Sissies won three of their five games at the Jacksboro Tournament.

The Sissies beat up on Millsap 9-0. Seymour held off Bridgeport 2-1. Breckenridge scored a 9-3 win over the Sissies. Bridgeport then hammered Chico 15-5 with three RBIs from Brooklyn Goines.

Bridgeport closed out the tournament with a 15-0 win over Millsap in three innings. CheyAnne Weirich drove in seven runs with a double and grand slam.


The Paradise Lady Panthers split six games at the Brock Tournament over the weekend.

The Lady Panthers beat Tolar 11-0, Midland Christian 12-8 and Pilot Point 10-5. After falling to Brock in the opener 5-0, Paradise dropped its last two games to Brownwood (9-5) and Pilot Point (13-12).

Kaycee Martin and Darla Walterscheid had seven hits each over the weekend. Walterscheid and Thomas each homered. Alex Pye drove in nine runs.
