Reagan Guthrie sent the Alvord Lady Bulldogs into spring break in first place in District 12-2A.

Guthrie blasted a double to left-center field scoring Mikena Mader from first base in the Lady Bulldogs’ 4-3 walk-off victory over defending league champion Lindsay.

“It’s a big win,” said Alvord coach Tony Brazeal. “We knew Lindsay would be good. We came back at the right time and scored in the bottom of the seventh. Reagan hit a hot shot to left field that got to the fence.”

Alvord moved to 2-0 in district. The Lady Bulldogs blanked Collinsville 4-0 Saturday.

“We’ve still got a ways to go,” Brazeal said. “We’re not playing as good as we can play.”

After tossing a six-hit shutout of Collinsville, Mader limited Lindsay to five hits over seven innings and struck out 10. She allowed three runs – one earned.

Lindsay scored one in the first and took a 2-0 lead with an unearned run in the top of the third.

Mader drove in a run in the third to get Alvord on the board. Then in the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 3, capitalizing on a pair of Lindsay errors and an RBI-single from Randi Taylor.

The game stayed tied until Guthrie’s walk-off hit.

Guthrie finished 2-for-4. Katelyn Schedcik and Madi Espinoza added a pair of hits.
