Soccer: Sissies pick up first home win

Loreli Aguilar scored in the 57th minute Tuesday to net the Bridgeport Sissies the program’s first home win.

Maddie Cross drove down the sideline and gave a crossing pass that Aguilar booted in for the game’s lone goal in the 1-0 victory over Birdville JV.

“This was a good game and good win for the Sissies,” said Bridgeport coach John Tuggle.

“The defense had to step up at times and work hard to stop attacks.”

Clara Ortiz made two saves in earning the shut out.

NORTHWEST 2, FOSSIL RIDGE 0

The Northwest Lady Texans started District 5-6A play Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Keller Fossil Ridge.

Lexi Ihrig and Masen Coker found the back of the net with goals for the Lady Texans.

BOYS

BRIDGEPORT 5, BIRDVILLE JV 1

Uriel Betancourt punched in two goals and assisted on two more as the Bridgeport Bulls rolled past the Birdville JV Tuesday, 5-1.

Bridgeport scored four goals in the first half and added another in the second, improving to 3-5.

“Goals were flowing and the team play was outstanding with multiple contributors across the field,” said Bridgeport coach Ben Parks.

“Four different goal scorers made for a great night.”

Efrain DeLuna, Juan Amador and Rogelio Galicia punched in goals. Alex Martinez earned an assists.

Juan Martinez made two saves in goal.

FOSSIL RIDGE 4, NORTHWEST 1

The Northwest Texans dropped their District 5-6A opener Tuesday 4-1 to Keller Fossil Ridge.
