Soccer: Decatur earns two wins at Brewer

The Decatur Eagles went 2-1 over the weekend at the Brewer Bear Cave Classic.

Decatur took down Trimble Tech 4-2 and Willis 2-1. The Eagles suffered a 2-1 setback against Birdville.

“We’re experimenting with different formations and personnel and trying to be the best team we can be once district starts,” said Decatur coach Wes Campbell.

Brandon Garza, Jaime Prado, Rodrigo Carrillo, Daniel Inguanzo, and Bryse Hoyt all had goals.

Juan Patino turned in a solid tournament in goal.

The Bridgeport Bulls were limited to one goal in three matches at the Brewer Bear Cave Classic over the weekend.

Uriel Betancourt had a goal in the 2-1 loss to Fort Worth Polytechnic. Miguel Olmos earned an assists.

Keeper Juan Martinez made 12 saves and allowed four goals in the three matches.

The Northwest Lady Texans went 3-0-1 over the weekend.

Lexi Ihrig scored a pair of goals and Masen Coker and JoEllen Hindman added one each in a 4-1 win over Newman Smith.

Coker had two goals and Mackenzie Haislet one in a 3-1 victory over Arlington Lamar.

Northwest battled to a scoreless draw with Denton.

Haislet put in the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over Duncanville.

Fort Worth Southwest scored with 30 seconds left on a corner kick to beat the Bridgeport Sissies 3-2.

Delores Amador and Maddie Cross scored the two goals. Cross and Miriam Reyes handed out assists.

Bridgeport fell to Brewer 4-0 and Carter Riverside 3-0 at the tournament.
