Powerlifting: Lifters finish fourth at state – Hofsiss, Rodriguez bring home medal

Alvord’s Natalie Hofsiss and Chico’s Ana Rodriguez brought home fourth-place medals from the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association 1A/2A championships in Corpus Christi.

Hofsiss lifted 840 in the 181-pound class. She squatted a class-best 370. She benched 150 and pulled 320 on deadlift.

In the 97-pound class, Rodriguez tallied 465 pounds. She recorded a squat of 175, bench press of 80 and deadlift of 210. Her deadlift was the second-best in the division.

Chico’s Jenny Martinez garnered seventh in the 123 class with her total of 550. Haley Pollard took seventh in the 132s with a tally of 615. Jessica Redwine finished eighth in the 220-plus division with a total of 845.

Alvord’s Makayla Martin took sixth in the 198s with a total of 805.

In the 3A meet, Paradise’s Kyndall McCasland finished ninth in the 105s with a total of 565.
